Venice International Film Festival
Founded in 1932 and organized by La Biennale di Venezia, the Venice International Film Festival is a unique event for professionals and devotees of film and culture, which has been a showcase for memorable actors and cult directors over the years.
The Venice International FIlm Festival advances the knowledge and diffusion of international cinema in all its forms: art, entertainment and industry, in a spirit of freedom and tolerance.
The oldest film festival in the world presents the international competition awarding the Golden Lion and other official prizes; the Out of Competition section, with the year's most significant films by established auteurs; the Orizzonti section. dedicated to new trends and to experimentation in film around the world and open to short and 'custom-format' films; and Controcampo Italiano, a section dedicated to new developments in Italian Cinema.
